Seminar: ‘Capacity’ in the Context of the Assisted Decision Making (Capacity) Acts
The Irish Social Policy Association is delighted to host an evening, in-person seminar on Tuesday 25th June from 6pm to 8pm on the topic of capacity, which is being held in the Carmelite Community Centre, Aungier Street, Dublin D02 T258. (The venue is ground floor, wheelchair accessible).
Three speakers will give different perspectives:
- Áine Flynn, Director of the Decision Support Service will speak about their role under the Assisted Decision Making (Capacity) Acts.
- Dr Nat O’Connor, Policy Specialist at Age Action will speak about how older persons are affected by issues around capacity, including financial abuse, treatment in residential care settings and setting out their will and preference in advance of losing capacity.
- Richard O’Leary will speak about his experience as a person who presents with Autism and Down’s Syndrome. Richard will present using the assistance of a communications aid on his iPad.
Attendance at the seminar is free-of-charge to members of the Association, and non-members are welcome to attend for a fee of €5. Alternatively, non-members are welcome to join the association on the night.
